Ms Shruti Umaiyaal Bharathanatyam Recital in Singapore – June 5th, 2014
Ms Sruthi, even in her day-to-day life envisions a bird or tree with a dance abinaya. This clearly underlines her deep inclination to the divine Bharathanatyam art. Sruthi, 16 years, is an A Level student at the renowned institution Church Park, Chennai. Like any normal child would, she also joined a Bharathanatyam class. But this art meant much more to her and she became so obsessed with this art. Eventually she was also fortunate to land up with an illustrious Guru, ‘Mrs Meenakshi Chitharanjan’, a prestigious Padhmasree awardee.
Under her tutelage for close to ten years, Sruthi did her arangetram in 2012 in Chennai. Since then she has been giving both individual and group performances in India and abroad like USA, Malaysia and Singapore.
Recently, Sruthi had come with her family to Malaysia and Singapore. On the 23rd and 25th May she had performed in the Sree MMariamman Temple and in a wedding reception, respectively at Johor Bahru. On the 24th and 27th May she had performed at Sree Thendayuthapani Temple and Sree Vadapathirakaliamman Temple, Singapore respectively.
All the performances lasted over an hour and it included some items on Lord Krishna, Lord Muruga, Goddess Sivagami, Thilana, Kavadi Chinthu and others.
There was an overwhelming response to the programs, which was attended by about hundred people.
Her expressions were the most outstanding and the adavu, abhinaya were all equally good, that the audiences claimed she is very professional!
At a young age, if some one could excel in the field they are interested in, the credit should be given to the parents too, who stand by the kid and provide the essential support.
Hence, in Sruthi’s progress lies the part of herself, the parents and the Guru who has nurtured her.
